Getting started

Install ClickyPanel, connect your first site, and star the one you watch most.

ClickyPanel reads the analytics you already run. There is nothing to install on your websites and no account to create: connect your provider’s API key and it starts fetching.

1. Install

Download the build for your platform from the download page. On first launch macOS and Windows may warn you about an unidentified developer; the download page explains exactly why and what to click.

2. Connect a provider

Open Add site and pick your provider. Each provider asks for something slightly different, and each one has its own setup page:

  • Clicky: a site key, or an account login that lists every site
  • Matomo: your instance URL and an API token (Cloud or self-hosted)
  • Umami: your self-hosted server URL and login

More providers are on the way.

Your credentials are stored encrypted on your machine and only ever sent to the provider they belong to, never to us.

3. Star the site you watch

Click the star on a site (on its card in the overview, or beside its name in the sidebar) to make it a favourite. Favourites sort to the top of both lists, and the first one is the site the menubar/tray widget counts.

Where that count appears depends on your platform:

Platform Where the count shows
macOS Beside the menubar icon
Linux Beside the tray icon
Windows Hover the tray icon (Windows does not draw tray labels)

On every platform, clicking the icon opens a menu listing every site with its own count.

The same numbers are always in the main app window; the menubar and tray widget saves you opening it.

4. Set a refresh interval

ClickyPanel refreshes automatically, from once a minute upwards. Set the interval to manual if you would rather it fetched only when you ask.

If you have many sites, Settings → Refresh concurrency controls how many are fetched at once. Lower it if you see rate-limit errors. The app never exceeds a provider’s own limit regardless of this setting.

What ClickyPanel does not do

It is a monitor, not an analysis tool. There are no filters, segments, or query builders. Every site has an Open in provider link that takes you to the provider’s own dashboard for deeper analysis.
